Not Receiving SMS text alerts

I have a iphone 4s (JB) and I am currently on 6.1.1. 2 days ago all of a sudden I stopped receiving text alerts on my phone, I have to manually go into my messaged just to check my text messages. I also use BITESMS and the only way I can see that I have a new text is with the little gum ball with a number inside. Other than that there is no alert sound. Please help if you have had this same issue.

Make sure your messages alerts are not turned off in sbsettings.

This. You likely turned them off in SBSettings. The only other rational guess would be you managed to turn that little bell on for the people you've been texting that turns off individual alerts. In SBSettings, there's a toggle titled "SMS Alerts" with the BiteSMS logo. Make sure it's green

Thank you all, sorry for the late reply...this is what was going on. I noticed that my alerts style was set to "none" when I would change it to "banner" and reboot the phone and somehow it would turn back to "none". I finally "reset all settings" and I'm back in business!!!
