How do I register an email address with iMessage absolutely nothing works

I've tried everything suggested in settings but nothing works

in settings scroll to iMessages and open it, Go down to send and receive where it will show you everything associated with iMessage. Now choose what number or address you want Associated with it, I suggest your phone number and anything you don't want simply uncheck them. Thats it. Good luck and be patient.
