My icloud storage is showing full and hence i would like to delete few photos and videos from icloud. please help me with the steps.

Welcome to iMore! I don't keep many photos backed up to iCloud. I use Box and Dropbox to store my photos. That's one way. Upload them from your camera roll to Dropbox, and them delete them from the camera roll. They are then deleted in iCloud with your next back up.
Be sure to delete all photos in the "recently deleted" album. They will take space.
