Re: why does my phone not make a sound when someone texts or voice mail or messages

So there could be a couple of reasons as to why this could be happening:
?is your vibrate switch on your phone turned on?
This would cause all of those notifications that would normally make sound, be silenced to just a vibration.

?check your overall volume on your phone. Something that is a setting on your phone is when you click your top volume button to raise, or bottom button to lower; it can also affect the overall volume of your phone system-wide.
Check within settings, under your volume settings to toggle with those settings. Be sure that is disabled, or just set up to your liking.

Hopefully that helps, or just respond back if not.

Make sure the mute button above the volume buttons shows no orange.

Welcome to iMore!

Check these;

  • Ensure that the volume button is turned up.
  • Ensure the mute button on the left side of the phone is not enabled (there's no icon to indicate it's on).
  • Ensure your phone is not in DND mode (moon icon next to battery icon).
