BBM Background activity

I was wondering why BBM keeps having background activity when I cancelled all of it on the Settings. Compared to Whatsapp for example, in the last 24 hours it run only 6 mins in background and BBM 1.5 hours?!
I only have 5 conversations and no groups.
Is this normal?

How do you cancel background activity? You can't do that! Most apps have background activity. Don't worry about it.
