Itunes on PC

Is there anyway to stop itunes form playing the song when importing songs into my itunes? All the info I've seen are for mac and I can't seem to find a way to stop that from happening.

Also, is there a way for itunes to automatically update library if I add a folder or a song into my folder of songs?

I use the Add to iTunes folder on my computer to add songs to my library.

It looks like you’re dragging songs on the iTunes screen. Yes, that makes the song play in iTunes.
