Facebook notifications reappear

Why do my notifications within Facebook that I swipe and hide using my iPhone reappear when I log out from there and re-logon on my iPad Pro?

Why do my notifications within Facebook that I swipe and hide using my iPhone reappear when I log out from there and re-logon on my iPad Pro?

It does the same thing on mine too between my iPhone and iPad. Even after reading notifications on one of my Apple devices, if I visit Facebook on my computer they show up as un-read. Either it's a bug, or it's designed to be that way.
