switched off my phone at 85% and the battery sign shows up

i had finished charging my phone and used it. then switched it off and the battery sign appeared. i tried hard reset and no icon appeared. i charged the phone overnight and it's still the same thing

Put your phone on the charger, hold down the power and home button for 10 seconds until you see the Apple logo. (For iPhone 7 the home and volume down button)

If this doesn't solve your issue, a trip to the Apple Genius Bar or a certified repair service is your only option.
