My AirPods have worked fine for several weeks, but starting last night sound only came out of the right one. Today it's only coming out of the left one. Any idea what I've done wrong?

Possibly try repairing them with your device?
Disconnect them from your phone while they are inserted in the case. Once that is complete, repair them to your device. If that doesn't resolve it, I'd go to the Apple store.
Do you have other Apple devices connected to your AirPods that you could test on? Does it occur on other devices?
