I'm trying to transfer photos from my iphone 5s through a macbook pro and onto a memory stick but i'm not sure how... I don't want the photos imported onto the mac I just want them on the memory stick.

Welcome to iMore. Image capture is the easiest way. Here is a link to a guide on how to do it. Just set it to import the pictures to your memory stick.
