I can't hear people when I call them on my iPhone 6, it only works on speaker

Make a Genius Bar appointment or take it to an Apple authorized repair shop to have it checked out.

Sounds like a receiver issue. You may possibly need a display replacement to fix it, depending on the device.

Have you checked the volume for the ear piece just in case since there are several volume controls that can only be checked when that part of the phone is working. Like speaker volumn - when speaker on only etc. Just a thought??

I had a friend of mine calling me and complaining about the same issue. The lovely fool forgot to remove the foil from the screen, which was also covering the ear-speaker
