How do I know when the ringer on my iPhone 6 is in the ON position?

People have been calling me but my phone doesn't actually ring and I can't see where I turn the ringer ON!

The mute switch by the volume buttons will show orange/red when mute is enabled... the display will show a little quarter moon on the top right if Do Not Disturb is on... and you can hit the volume up button and adjust the rig volume if you're not listening to music or have headphones plugged in.

Also if you are on iOS 8 which you most likely are your calls should show up on any other apple devices you might own such as an iPad, Mac or Apple Watch. I answer calls on my ipad all the time.
