What is the best way to get help updating from Lion to Mavericks?

I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT I AM DOING AND GET OVERWHELMED AT THE THOUGHT OF UPGRADING ON MY OWN.

I HAVE BACKED UP USING TIME MACHINE, BUT??I FREEZE AFTER THAT. WILL THE SOFTWARE I HAVE WORK WITH MAVERICKS?

I have no idea what I am doing and get overwhelmed at the thought of upgrading on my own.

I have backed up using time making to an external hard drive, but?. I freeze after that. Will the software I have work with Mavericks? Will all my passwords in 1Password still be there? HELP!

Can I make an appointment at the Genius bar and they will do it for me?
