Connect it to iTunes on your computer.
unchecked those songs you do not want from the music library on your computer.
sync back to your iPhone.
That should remove from the iPhone the musics you don't want in the iPhone

Maybe they meant unwanted?

You can only delete by individual songs, not by album or artist. Drill down to the song(s) you want to delete and just swipe from the right to the left. A little red delete button should appear. Good luck!
