I have been using a storedge 128GB card to add additional storage space for my macbook air (2013 model). It's is working fast enough for eg. docs, iTunes music etc, and one of the very few ways of adding storage space to the macbook air after purchase.

However, I recently noticed that the cards content is excluded from the time machine backups, and it can not remove that exclusion. I also tried with :
    > sudo tmutil removeexclusion /Volumes/StorEDGE
    but no luck.

I suspect that it all depends on the mount options and formatting flags of the card? Ideally I want to the system to treat this card as a permanent drive.

How is the card formatted? I believe it needs to be formatted like a Mac HD.
