How much storage does the Optimize storage free up?

Optimize storage

Hey. How much space does the "Optimize Storage" free up and how much space is used for photos locally on the device? Is it possible for me to tell the device to use only a specific amount for photos so I can use the rest for apps and music?

Probably won't be the same for everybody... determined by algorithm...

There's no way to know that. If you're concerned about photos taking up space on the phone, use cloud based apps like Box, Dropbox and OneDrive. That's what I do. You can create folders or albums to organize your photos and videos. Then delete them from your camera roll.
