How do I get my notification tones to change?

New to iphone 6 and I have tried to change the tones for calls, txts, and mail ect but no matter which ones I tick the tones do not change to what I have picked when I get calls ect. all the tones that I get are the ones that were on the phone when I got it from Apple

Try a reset of the device. It should not be happening like that.

Yes, try the hard reset. Hold the top power/sleep button and the home button at the same time until the Apple logo appears, then release.
