Your solution didn't work. Is something missing?

I tried your suggestion about backing-up my iPhone and restoring it from the same backup to get ried of "other" files. However when I went to restore my iPhone told me there was not enough space to do it. Are we missing a step?

If you restore from backup you're putting the same "other" files back on your iPhone. You should set it up as new. That will remove much of the other. Keep in mind you can't do away with other completely.
