How do I get the microphone image on my iPhone keyboard so I can speak text?

I don't remember having to enable a setting to get that feature. Mine has already been enabled. What iOS are you on?

Only iPhones 4s and up have the dictation mic. I think. If you have a 4s, 5, 5c, or 5s and there's no mic on the keyboard, try turning on Siri in settings.

+1 for what Ledsteplin said. You need Siri turned on in order to have the mic there. I have had it both on and off and with it on it's there and not there when off. To turn Siri on: Go to Settings > General > Siri. Then turn the slider to on and adjust settings accordingly.

This same thing happened to me where I lost the microphone image. Go to settings > general > keyboard > and then go all the way to the bottom and turn on " enable dictation" there you go! :)
