The particular models I've chosen are the:
MBA 13 inch (2014) - $1049.99 - i5 - 4 GB RAM - 256 GB SSD
rMBP 13 inch - $1299.99 - i5 - 8GB RAM - 256 GB SSD
Some background on what I plan to do: This will be more of a secondary portable computer I can take with me anywhere, since I have a high end desktop. I will be taking Computer Science, but I don't think I will really need this that much for the actual work for the major that much since they have computer labs. Overall, I guess I'm doing pretty light tasks except I want this to last 4 years.
Not sure if the overall upgrade of $250 for the rMBP is worth it for me for the RAM upgrade, CPU upgrade, and resolution in exchange for the MBA's battery, lightness, thin and slick design. Do the fans in the Pro get louder than the Air's when doing intensive tasks, or are they the same? Also with the rumored "Retina MacBook Airs" coming out around the end of this year or by mid 2015 it adds something to think about. Thanks!
