Cant get emails set up since upgrading to iOS 7 !

I am using Gmail on iPad Air IOS 7.1. IOS settings says that the Gmail password is incorrect. That's not true it is the correct password for my Gmail account. This incredibly frustrating. This means I have no contacts or access to Gmail. What is the problem?
