Message notifications from myself

Seems a little odd that, my watch will display the little red dot at the top of the face when I reply to a message from my phone. Like it’s an unread message only it’s due to me messaging someone else . Is this normal?

I don't get that. I only get a notification on my watch for messages that I receive and haven't read yet on the phone.

It’s been a while since I posted this issue and I’ve since learned that it only appears to be when I message with someone that’s not on iPhone

Hmm, even that is still weird, no?
That does not happen with my watch (series 4), latest update about to be applied this evening.

Agreed. That’s still weird because the red dot is just a notification indicator. With that being said, I will try to monitor my Watch to see if I can replicate what the OP is experiencing.
