I am using Apple TV 4th Gen. I recently downloaded the YouTube app. I was told there was a way to go into the settings in the ATV and change something that would block the ads shown in the YouTube app? I find them annoying and they seem to cause the audio to be messed up at the beginning of every video. Can this actually be done?

No. You can skip most ads after 5 seconds my pressing and holding the right side of the trackpad. Otherwise the only way to not see ads is to pay for YouTube Red.
