Why is my Macbook Pro trackpad going haywire?

My Macbook Pro is less than a year old but the trackpad seems to have a mind of its own. It seems to randomly do its own thing when I click and track and there is no discernible pattern. Restarting the computer will occasionally help but only for a short time, after which, the problem reappears. I have also tried calibrating the battery and clearing some space on my hard drive/start up disk, both of which haven't worked. Please help!

Make sure the trackpad is clean. Meaning, there is no residue or gunk on it. If that doesn't help then take at the support page here:https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204621
