So, iMessage is only on the iP4S and not iOS5? I thought that it was going to be available for any device that could run iOS5.
It's a io5 feature so if your device can run it it'll work.

I Really wanted the iPad to use my iPhone to send SMS messages. That way I wouldn't have to pick up my iPhone when someone without an I device texts me. iOS 7 perhaps?
And you can. You can start a sms conversation on a iphone and continue it on the ipad. Great feature
