iMessage is sending read receipts when turned off.

iPhone 6Plus.... up to date iOS. My GFs phone is sending read receipts even though the setting is turned off. I had her turn iMessage off on her phone and iPad for 4 minutes and then back on.

She is still sending read receipts.

Delete that conversation between the two of you from both iPhones (yours and hers) and try again.

I turned iMessage off, waited a few minutes, then back on. All is good.
