Does anyone know if you can sign up for the $49 plan (data and hot spot) and then drop the hot spot if not used or can you add it at a later date? Is it a good option? Approximately how much can you use it per month on that plan? Sorry for my questions. I am just not sure if I want/need that for my new exciting iPhone!
Thanks!

Hotspot is a feature, so you can add/remove as much as you'd like!

From what I understand, the hot spot is a month by month thing and you can have for 1 month or how ever many months you want it. The $20 is for 2gb. I think it's $20 for every gb you go over.

Yes, you can switch to the other data plan and drop the hot-spot any time. And switch back if you want to. You'll have 2GB of data allowance on the hotspot; overage is $20 per 1GB.

No worries! Verizon gives 5 gigs with the MiFi hotspot plan, but for whatever reason they've decided the max to give on smartphone hotspot plans is 2GB.

Used to be the tethering on capable phones was 5GB/$20/mo - and at the same time, a 3G Data card/mifi was $59.99/mo for 5GB. When phones could be mobile hotspots - they came up with the 2GB/$20-month deals.
