Download error. Tap to retry.

Sometimes when I try to download a movie to my iPhone, I get a msg saying "Download error. Tap to retry." I tap repeatedly, but I'm left in download limbo. This error continues to appear in iTunes even though I upgraded the phone from iOS 4.01 to 4.1. I still get the same error msg for the same movie. Moreover, this problem has happened on my current iPhone 4, my old iPhone 3GS, and iPod Touches. Strangely, the last time this happened over Labor Day wkend, it took 6 hrs for the movie to download HALF way before the download error occurred. Frustrated, I instead downloaded the movie over my old 3GS, and it completed in 40 mins. The problem clearly is not my wifi connection, not was it a memory/storage limitation. If anyone has guidance about how to work around this download problem, or clear the error message that STILL shows in iTunes weeks later, I'd certainly appreciate the help!

One more thing. This download error is a known problem. I've searched online for a resolution to no avail. Thanks again for any help!
