Cannot sign on to Apple tv

When trying to sign in to Apple TV, message comes back I'd or password not valid. Password valid on iPad and itouch. Have reset, pull on plug......at wits end.
Any suggestions

Are you sure that you are typing both the Apple ID and password absolutely correctly?
