Banner notification - any way to display date?

Can't seem to figure this one out. . . . When u swipe down, from any app or screen to display banners, is there a way to display the current date?

It would be a nice "un-jailbroken" feature to have. I'm always wondering "what's today's date?" and it would be a quick way to check.

Yeah. I'm talking about unlocked screen while working with other apps and pulling down banner notifications to display date.

Yeahhh hopefully apple will add the ability to add different widgets much like OS X. But currently only stocks and weather widgets are available...
