    Help!

Even Apple hardware can die (gasp) so I'd go to the return line if I were you.

Anyone having second thoughts given the problems?

Good points WH - especially the sliding finger which works well. I guess I'm just lazy and hope the spell checker will catch it, which I'd say it does 90% or better. Regardless, you have to give it the Mossberg 5 day trial (for the firt 3 days you'll want to pitch it in the trash).

    iPhone 2.1

CUT & PASTE Sluggishness; battery life; to do syncing; notes syncing (I figure if I throw enough of them out there they'd at least address one).

Anyone having second thoughts given the problems?

Hey TX, you gave up way too soon. I can easily out-type my Curve now. You have to do two critical things when you use the iPhone keyboard: 1. use the "pad" of your fingers or thumb; do not try to use the finger tip - it is much more accurate that way (because it picks up the center of the tap -...

    Synching Outlook Notes

Another alternative is to add notes to your contact manager. Outlook and Entourage work okay that way - start Last Name with "Note" then short description. They'll be alpha by subject following the word "Note"

So you have a iPhone 3g... Happy? Not Happy?

When I had my original Blackjack and the Tilt, I just gave up and blocked 3g until I wanted to do heavy surfing or had large email attachments to download. 3g just eats batteries.

Anyone worried they won't be able to get an iPhone on Friday?

Well, I was flat wrong. Our local AT&T (Apple store is 300+ miles away) was sold out by 10:30 - this kinda sucks, but at least I have my 2.0 upgraded iPhone to keep me company. Still, this does seem to be a gross miscalculation of demand, and add that to the great handling of three simultaneous...

2.0 Software by 12 PM (EST) on the 10th?

This will be a really golden nugget if true - I'll get to test fly the 2.0 software on my iPhone before having to lay down more money on AT&T - it would be a real help, particularly since all iPhone owners should update to OS 2. before switching out to the iPhone 3g.

Walt Mossberg reviews the iPhone 3G

The battery report is very discouraging. I've read Mossberg's reviews of dozens of different smartphones, and in his "daily driver" part of the report uses the phone as he would in business use: calls, email, PDA functions, web surfing. It's not a specific "rundown" test by over exercising the...

Would you buy 8GB if they ran out of 16GB?

Nothing short of 16gb for this trooper, even if I had to wait a whole 24 hours!

    iphone battery.

I'd really like to hear from someone who carries a spare battery around in their pocket for "emergencies." I know I had one on the Samsung i500, my Blackjack, and then the Curve. I never remember having use it, mostly because the Treo taught me to charge every night (remember, the 600 was not...

This just in - I have the green light for the 3G iPhone !!!

Congratulations! And you'll actually be a lucky fellow because I still think iPhone 3g Pro is in the works with a 32gb surprise for the Christmas season. ;)

Which one are you getting 8Gb or 16Gb?

I read somewhere that the Touch has the equivalent of two memory slots (compared to the iPhone) which is in line with the room issue. Still, I'm one for the iPhone 3g Pro and hope they skip 32gb altogether and go to 64gb.

"iPhone 3g" - Good or bad name???

Sorry, this would have to be "secondcomingPhone" then.

Which one are you getting 8Gb or 16Gb?

No brainer...16gb...no one has EVER gone wrong by getting all the memory they can on any device (phone, laptop, desktop, server, you name it). Between the AppStore and your iTunes library, you'll be screaming for 32gb by this time next year (if not by Christmas).

Do you think the 3G will sell out?

I sure hope British interest is not a precursor. Apparently O2 has been swamped with "pre-requests" to purchase the iPhone 3g... O2 website crashes under 3G iPhone demand - Times Online

Do you think the 3G will sell out?

Good luck calling your local stores (if they are AT&T). You can't get a live person in an AT&T store if your life depends upon it. Perhaps Apple stores are more responsive, but our local AT&T store immediately shunts you off to 800 auto-answer land...

    1st gen iPhone w/2.0 vs. 3G iPhone

Check your account online, but anyone with a current iPhone plan is eligible for the upgrade pricing. I'm hoping they keep that policy when they announce the iPhone 3g Pro with 32gb at Christmas. :D

    No cut and paste

I would disagree - cut & paste is even more important on a phone. I don't want to type the great American novel on my phone, I want to make quick replies, short edits, clip "stuff" for inclusion in an email. All require SYSTEM WIDE cut & paste, not just Docs to Go or PocketInformant putting it...

Where are you buying the iPhone 3G

I think Bad Ash is right. The "feel" is not at all the same this time around. You only catch lightening in a once, and although I believe the iPhone 3g will sell great, the frenzy will not be the same. That's great, because I can't get to our AT&T store until late afternoon (wishful thinking?)
