BytaFont Themes Question

I see in BytaFont that you can download themes, which is cool.. I see that they list the following under Themes:

Springboards
Lockscreens
Batteries


A couple of questions...

1) what is a Springboard?
2) if I download a lockscreen theme, how will that affect IntelliScreenX?
3) i installed a new charging battery theme, but the battery is really small now when I plug it in and charge it...
