3.1.3 restore help

Morning guys,

Big hello from myself!

I need a little help with restoring my 3gs 3.1.3,
it's on the new bootrom and jailbroke via spirit.

I have had the phone freezing up a few times so went to do a restore via iTunes. But as 4.0 is out iTunes wants to install this rather than 3.1.3,

I did some looking on the net and downloaded the FW and tryed shift/ click resore but it won't let my find the downloaded FW.

I'm on windows xp

sorry if this has been asked before but I'm lost with what I need to do now as I really don't want 4.0 on till it's jailbroke.

Oh I'm on iTunes 9.2 and the ipsw file is showing up as a .rar file,
also once I manage to restore will it be a problem useing spirit to re-jailbreak with 9.2 installed or will I have to install a earlyer version off iTunes?

9.2 iTunes and spirit jb don't play well. Downgrade iTunes back to 9.1.1 and for the ipsw file, don't unzip, just change the extension to ipsw

And if u didn't save ur shsh blobs on cydia, u may be outta luck on downgrading back to 3.1.3

I'm not downgradeing as I'm still on 3.1.3,
also I tryed changeing the name off the .rar but that still didn't work.
And cydia says it has my shsh on file (not that I no what I'm doin with them)

And idea with itunes not seeing the .rar file(even tho its changed to .ispw)

Also with the cydia shsh files-where do they come into the restore?

Sorry for so many questions but this is my first iphone and is a little more complex than sony ericssons.

Probably an issue with iTunes 9.2. And here is the guide to using the cydia server for ur shsh blobs

cool,so i have added the host file.

Im guessing now when i go into restore mode via itunes it will install my orignal 3.1.3 fw that was not jail broken?

It won't be jb, you'll have to re-jb

1 more quick one.
So now i have added cydia to the host file and installed 9.1,can i not restore with itunes as you would normally?

(ie. click restore-dont back up?)

Where did you get the ipsw file? why is it a rar? I've gotten them before and it didn't come in as rar file. I would say get another ipsw, get it from a site where it comes in as ipsw I think iClarified always has links.

it was from iClarified,

Downloaded a few diffrent files and there all comin up as .rar files and it wont do anything when i change the name
