Sort by date now includes updates?

I always have had my iphone apps sorted by date added in iTunes. That way it was easy for me to see the app I just downloaded and add it to my phone (I don't automatically install new apps). Recently, all the app updates have been showing up as the most recently installed apps making it hard to find the app I just downloaded! Is there a way to change this behavior?

I don't follow what you're saying. Do you not download apps from the App Store on your phone?

Often times, yes, but I often read a review or something and then download from the iTunes app store on my imac and sync them. I guess I could always download on my phone, but the sync-via-desktop way is the way I've always done it. It frustrates me that the change in app sorting has seemingly occurred.
