iTunes and Windows...as bad as I've heard?

OK, so as I've mentioned a couple of times, I am thinking about switching from WP to (sigh), the iP6+ later this year. One thing that concerns me is that I've heard that iTunes on Windows is a disaster, but if I remember correctly, isn't iTunes the only way to get music from the PC to the phone?

FWIW: I don't own any Apple products and I don't know anyone who does beyond an iPhone.

I wouldn't say its a disaster on Windows but it's definitely not as smooth and refined as on Mac. It gets the job done well enough imo.

I have a Windows laptop running 8.1 and don't have any problems with iTunes.

Would it be safe to say you have an Outlook/MSN/Hotmail/Live account as well? Any syncing issues for emails, calendar's, contacts on the iPhone/PC combo?

I switched from a PC to a Mac a few months ago, but when I was using a PC with my iPhone I had no difficulties.
