the gray bubble in my text box blocks out my words i have an iphone 5s an have not upgraded

That's the audio text feature. It's activicated by pressing the mic on the right side. Try swiping the messages app out of multitasking. That works.

If you press the microphone to the right of the box it will go back to text mode.

It didn't when I had this come up. I had to swipe it out of multitasking.

Two people I know had this same thing happen and that is what solved it. I will keep your experience in mind too!

Some are reporting they don't even see a mic. Not sure about those though.
