Does anyone know why the signal on my 3gs would immediately drop to 1 bar as soon as I press the home button then slowly increase back to 5 bars?

Does this happen while you are holding the device or when it is flat on a table too? What model is it?

Both and it's an MC.

It's the second revision of the 3GS with the new bootrom.

If you can I'd try to restore as new and see if it still happens ( don't restore from backup ). If that fails, your provider may be having issues in the area, call and find out. If that fails, go to an Apple store if possible.
