Iphone 3gs slider stuck

Hello everyone, this is my first post and I hope you can help.

I have iphone 3gs and the screen broke. All functions were working just fine just a cracked screen. I bought a new screen and just finished replacing it. phone powered on and everything was fine until I tried to use the slider to unlock the phone. The slider acts as if it is going to work but it will not slide all the way to the right. Has anyone ever had this problem and if so, how did you fix it??

Oh yeah, I already tried a hard reset and the problem is still there.
