Multiple devices - does it make sense to do it this way?

I've been reading everything I can get my hands on about iCloud and iTunes, and am still struggling to figure it out. Please tell me if this will work...

My husband and I have one ancient crappy PC. (Yes, our next desktop will be an iMac!). So Homesharing is out. I have an iPad 2, and an iPod Nano. He has an iPod Touch and an iPod Classic. We're sharing my iTunes account so that we don't have to double-purchase apps and music. Friday we're both getting iPhone 4S's.

I'll be using all the functions of these devices - especially things like sharing documents - far more than he will. So my thought is that I'll set up iCloud to link to my iTunes account, and turn off most of the iCloud features on his iPhone and iPod Touch. We can sync his manually by connecting it to the PC. Does that make sense? Or am I missing something?

Thanks!!
Laura
