I am receiving an email everytime someone replies to a forum I am subscribed to. Is there a way to stop this?

If you’re using Tapatalk or the iMore Forums app to peruse the iMore Forums with then look into the app’s settings. You should see something similar to what is depicted in the attached screenshot.

Hi,

If you're using the website, you can get to your currently enabled notifications here: https://forums.imore.com/subscription.php (or the cog on the top right, and choose Subscribed Threads).

You can change your default notifications settings by going here: https://forums.imore.com/profile.php?do=editoptions (or the cog on the top right, and choose General Settings), then change the Default Thread Subscription Mode to Do not subscribe.

Thank you for providing the screenshots and information. I am still having some trouble here.

For one, on Tapatalk and iMore mobile app I am not getting ANY notifications for a quoted post which I have selected on both apps on my iPhone. I have notifications on both in the apps and the iPhone settings. I attached some screenshots for you.

Also, on the desktop site for imore in the general settings I do need see anywhere that shows an email is sent to me when someone generally replies to a thread I am subscribed to. Shouldn't the imore app on my phone notify me when someone does that? I just don't want the emails coming in, but at the same time those emails are all I have now notifying me to even open my imore app to check the replies. It is weird!

You could unsubscribe to the forum(s) that you don't want to get notifications from.

I figured you would have the answers for me! Thanks Annie. So my imore app and tapatalk app do not send me any notifications at all. All I am getting are emails, saying Reply to thread or I was quoted on my post. How the heck do I reverse these notifications? I do not want email notifications, I want my app to notify me.

So this may seem to be a rather convoluted way to deal with this issue but it’s the only thing I can think of. Go to the particular thread that you are getting emails about and unsubscribe. Then once you’re unsubscribed if you still want to be as subscribed to that thread re-subscribe and then go through the process of configuring how you are notified or not notified. When you hit the subscribe button the menu will pop up when you can establish your preferences. Sorry but that’s the only way I can think of to deal with this.

Are you saying to do this in the app? IMore or Tapatalk?

I would do it through the app. I would go to Web for you because I think that’s going to give you the best results.

Okay, let’s see! I unsubscribed all. I then clicked the check box on the top right to subscribe to this and no prompt came up. It just subscribed. Let’s try though, If you can quote this post with a reply and I’ll let you know what happens.

I used to have that figured out. I had the same issue. But the settings look different now. If I could find my post about it, that might help.

That's difficult on iPhone.

So I think your guide helped me out for the emails, thank you very much.

Still have zero notifications on my iOS Tapatalk and iMore forums app though which is so frustrating.

I don’t think I have received a notification from Tapatalk in months, from this forums or the other one that I’m a member of. I’ll keep an eye out today.

That's difficult on iPhone.

I can only imagine.

I chose the web route, because others provided the other method.

So, push notifications in Tapatalk do work. I just received one from iMore.

In my case, I have Tapatalk to normally deliver notifications to the scheduled summary.
