Frozen iMessage screen

I didn't even know imessaging existed and somehow when I went to open my emails this iMessage came up for me to send, tried to close it it seems to be there and is not budging, tried to send a message as one would do an email, screen is still there and I cannot access my emails. I think I have iPad Air but not sure as it was a gift

To clarify, when you selected the native Mail app to check your email, an "iMessage" screen just appeared in the screen prompting you to "send" an iMessage of which you had not composed. Is that correct or did I misread/misinterpreted your post. Please join the iMore Forums to reply in this thread. Thank you.
