What happens when I change my Viber status to offline?

If I change my Viber status to offline, will I still be able to receive messages or see what other people are texting within a group?I sent a message to a person who was offline and did not receive any "delivered" or "seen" notifications. After I adjusted my status as offline I was not able to see if people were writing anything within my viber groups which is odd, so I am wondering if it has something to do with my offline status.
