Why isn't my email connecting to iMessages?

My email won't connect to I messages

I have done every step to adding another email to I message but it says it's only verifying. Do I just wait?

Is the email in question associated with an AppleID other than the one iMessage is signed in with? If so... you can't use that email address unless you remove it from the other AppleID.
