my phone does not ring when receiving a call. Went to settings but nothing. Help Im confused

Did you check the switch near the volume buttons? Can you see orange/red? If yes, flip the switch...

If No while the advice given was spot on, Reboot and hope the sound comes back. Also go to sound in your settings and see if any ringtones work, If so it might very well be the silent switch on the side Keith spoke of.

My Mom had this same problem. A simple hard reset fixed it for her. If that doesn't work...try doing a restore through iTunes...if that fails...stop by the Genius Bar.
