calandar sync iphone4 to google calendar

[iMore Question]

I have an ipad 2 that has my calendar on it and an iphone 4 that I would like the same calendar on.

the calendar on the ipad is synced to a google calendar (not a gamail account) the calendar login is a Hotmail account.

this seems to work fine in the ipad but the iphone cant seem to access it even tho I added it to the accounts under calendars and contacts.

any ideas?

other then moving to icloud to back up the calendar (this is not ideal for me)

First of all, Google services are tied together. In other words, you can login to your Gmail account using the same login information associated with the Google Calendar. About the login being a Hotmail account, I don't quite understand how that's possible, but hey, I just woke up.......Anyway, in my opinion, if both device are configured the same way, what you do on one device should also be accomplished on the other so re-check your settings.
