Backing up WhatsApp chats & media

Hi

I have WhatsApp chats which includes chats, photos and media in different groups. I want to transfer them to my Windows PC. Is there anyway I can do this?
1. I tried export chat but the file created is huge and would turn out to be too expensive on data plans.
2. I read about WhatsApp Pocket, downloaded a trial version but it fails to recognize my iPhone 6 Plus even when iTunes easily recognizes it.

Any other easier option out there?
