This is for bands in general and is not limited to the Watch bands. The articles goes on to state, "As for which bands harbored the most bacteria, rubber and plastic bands were found to be the worst. Metal bands, perhaps unsurprisingly, fared best."

Thankfully, I use a metal watch band.
