Why when my iPhone XR is in portrait mode won’t the volume indicator display on the left side?

It should be the other way around if you’re viewing a video. In other words, in “landscape mode”, the volume indicator should be at the top of the screen.

If you are indeed seeing it at the top of the screen in “portrait mode”, what app are you using?
