Why PHOTO still doesn't allow tagging ?

After IOS 8 migration iPHOTO have been replaced by PHOTO.
Funny that on Apple support site PHOTO does not appear as discussion site but only iPHOTO...
I find that one of major lack is missing of tagging. You can search on past tags you applied on iPHOTO on imported pictures, but cannot apply new ones.
Are there chances this feature will be added?
What are valid alternatives?

Welcome to iMore! What do you look for with tagging? Location? My favorite Camera app is ProCamera 8. It's feature rich. It does geotagging and much more. It also has video.
