why is my phone burning my charger

I only got my charger on Monday and now its not working properly. it has blacked stained bits on it as well. its a iPhone 5

Are you using an Apple OEM charger or a knockoff? If you're using an off-brand charger then that's most likely your problem. Make sure any charger you use is MFi certified. You should see this logo on the packaging:
